Abstract
The election of the Lebanese army commander, Joseph Aoun, as the country's president by the Lebanese parliament after two years of uncertainty seems to be more a result of an internal agreement in Lebanon than a part of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli regime and under international and regional pressure, especially since before the vote in parliament, the candidate supported by Hezbollah, Suleiman Franjieh, withdrew from the race. Joseph Aoun was not elected in the first round of voting due to the blank votes of Hezbollah and Amal, so that the Shiite representatives would show that things would not go ahead without their presence. Although the president-elect and the prime minister both spoke of repelling Israel's aggression against Lebanon's territorial sovereignty, they did not mention resistance. It seems that a new chapter has begun in Lebanon and it is of great importance to understand the future developments of this land in relation to how the Islamic Republic of Iran will deal with the new conditions...
