The Ukraine crisis (2014-2022) is one of the most significant examples of hybrid warfare in the modern era, leading to a geopolitical confrontation between Russia and the United States. This war, characterized by a combination of conventional and unconventional military tactics, including cyberattacks, media propaganda, and irregular operations, demonstrates a shift in modern warfare strategies. Russia has extensively employed cyberattacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, particularly in the energy sector and e-government systems, exerting significant pressure on Kyiv. Simultaneously, Russia’s large-scale media propaganda, aimed at influencing both domestic and international public opinion, has played a key role in supporting its actions and fueling separatist sentiments in eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, the United States, through economic sanctions against Russia, military aid, and diplomatic support for Ukraine, has sought to curb Russia’s influence and maintain the international order. NATO has also responded by increasing its military presence in Eastern Europe to counter Russian threats. Israel’s role in this crisis is noteworthy, as it closely monitors regional developments, aiming to maintain a balance in its relations with both sides. This article examines the dimensions of hybrid warfare, its impact on international relations, and the geopolitical roles of key players such as the U.S. and Israel in the Ukraine crisis, highlighting how this conflict goes beyond a regional confrontation and has profound effects on the global order.
